East West Line Circle Line Downtown Line North Shore Line

Circle Line

The Circle Line will be a 33.3km long MRT line which will be fully run underground and fully automated. It will be the world’s largest underground fully automated train system.

The entire line boasts a total of 29 stations, with 3 of the planned stations to be opened only at a later date due to the fact that the development in the surrounding areas is still low.

The Circle Line is part of the Concept Plan 2001 which joins up the sub-regional centres in Singapore, so as to provide better accessibility to Singaporeans in all sections of Singapore. This line is designed primarily with the aim of solving the human congestion at Raffles Place interchange station and City Hall interchange station by connecting to three present service lines. This is to divert the human flow by providing an alternate route, so that not all passengers need to inter-change at the above mentioned stations.

The Circle Line will also be extended to Marina Bay, most likely after the Integrated Resorts have been completed. 2 additional stations will be added to link the Central Business District to the sub-regional centres of the east, west and north sections of Singapore.

The Circle Line will use the Alstom Metropolis trains which will be painted black and white, in alignment to SMRT Corporation's (which will be operating the Circle Line) company colours. A passenger display system will be added to display the information of the next station the train is arriving at.

The Circle Line will be opened for service in 2010, while the extension to Marina Bay is still under preliminary planning.
