North East MRT Line

North East MRT Line, or commonly known as Purple Line, is a new MRT line opened in 2003. It links the North-eastern part of Singapore to the Central Area, such that Singaporeans living in the North-eastern regions can enjoy better accesibility to other parts of Singapore.

The North East Line is operated by SBS Transit, and has been serving up to 250000 passengers per day. It is also the world's first fully automated and driverless rapid transit system. Currently, one of the stations along the line is yet to be opened due to the lack of development in the surrounding area.
